USD 368 is seeking applications for a maintenance engineer with a knowldge and focus in electrical maintenance and repair. 

 

Job Function: Repairs, maintains, and services all school equipment and facilities with an emphasis on electrical maintenance and repairs.

 

Essential Functions:

1. Repairs, replaces and maintains:

· electrical components and appliances

· plumbing fixtures and facilities

· heating and air conditioning equipment and air handling units

· kitchen equipment

· fire extinguishers and emergency notification equipment

· tractors and mowers

2. Seasonally assists the grounds technician in maintaining the district's grounds including the cutting of grass and snow removal.

3. Serves as a substitute driver for the district's food service program.

4. Serves as a substitute building custodian

 

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Performs periodic inspections of “asbestos containing” material every six months.

2. Performs general maintenance upkeep and repair

3. Hauls supplies and equipment.

4. Orders supplies

5. Performs related functions as required by the supervisor.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Individuals must possess the following knowledge: skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combinations of skills and abilities.

1. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all maintenance equipment including, but not limited to: lawn mowers, snow blowers, hand and power tools, hand trucks, testing equipment, and vehicles.

2. Ability to process, categorize, and file information and forms in accordance with district procedures.

3. Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 100 pounds.

4. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to visitors, employees, and students.

5. Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

 

Qualifications:

1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Technical school degree preferred.

2. (a) Apprentice Certificate: Working experience in the areas of: carpentry, electrical, heating/air conditioning, plumbing.

(b) Journeyman Certificate: Five years experience and journey certificate in the areas of: electrical, heating/air conditioning, plumbing.

3. Requires significant amount of time standing, walking, lifting, stooping and carrying.

 

Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor

 

Terms of Employment: 12 months
